Usecase Vencomatic Group
Challenge
Automatic egg collection is a complex logistical process, partly because eggs can be randomly distributed and are fragile. At Vencomatic's customers, the eggs are automatically taken from the laying nests and transported via conveyor belts to a central point. However, the transport of the eggs often does not run as efficiently as possible, and correctly setting up all the machines involved in the collection process is difficult and time-consuming.
Process
To gain better insights into the egg collection process and predict its outcomes, Datacation has developed a Digital Twin with a dashboard that can simulate the course of egg collection for different customers and scenarios. Vencomatic collects extensive data from the egg collection processes at various customers, and this data has been used to develop and validate the Digital Twin. The solution is implemented in such a way that the existing information structures at Vencomatic can be directly used in the simulations. The dashboard makes it easy to test different scenarios and strategies and compare the results of the egg collection process.
Solution
With the help of the Digital Twin, Vencomatic can test multiple collection strategies to save time for both their customers and themselves. The simulation capabilities of the Digital Twin allow for multiple configurations to be tested and optimized in advance, reducing the need for trial-and-error adjustments on-site. The solution can be applied to existing customers by identifying and implementing alternative collection strategies that result in significant labor cost savings. Additionally, the Digital Twin can be used during the design process of new barn setups by analyzing the simulation results of the preliminary design within the implemented dashboard.
